MetaMe hasn't had an independent security audit yet, and the installers aren't code-signed. Windows and macOS will warn you the first time you open it. The steps for each system are below.

Before you start

There is no password reset.

Nobody holds a copy of your vault, including us. If you forget your master password and have no backup, no one can bring your identity back. Set up a safety net as soon as you install.

Backup fileA sealed copy of your vault. It restores everything on a new device, opened with your password.

Recovery sharesYour key split into pieces you keep in separate places. They restore your vault even if you forget your password.

Afterwards, open Test recovery shares from Home to check that your shares work. The test changes nothing.
